Development of the right hemisphere of the brain: 6 exercises (especially useful for right-handed people)

Why develop What is useful to do Exercises

We pay a lot of attention to training the body (we try, at least), but few people think about consciously training the brain. Meanwhile, being in constant development, it ages much later, allows you to think sensibly and avoid many diseases (memory impairment, decreased concentration, dementia) in old age. Moreover, it is necessary to engage both hemispheres harmoniously. Recently we talked about the left, but now we’ll tell you how to develop the right hemisphere of the brain. This is especially important for right-handers, because it is believed that their left is more developed, which means that the second needs to be studied additionally.

  • Brain hemisphere test: how to determine which is more developed and what it means

How to develop the right hemisphere of the brain, exercises

The brain is protected from damage by the bones of the skull and is part of the central nervous system. The main function of the brain is to control and regulate all processes occurring in the body. Everything that a person feels, all his actions come from the brain. When it is damaged or dysfunctional, the ability to act, express emotions, and react to external stimuli is lost.

  1. The easiest way to develop the right hemisphere is to engage in art, visit art galleries, and become familiar with beauty.
  2. The second way is to increase the load on the hemisphere by performing standard tasks using the side of the body controlled by the hemisphere. In the case of the right hemisphere - the left side of the body. Just do your usual things, trying to use your left arm and leg more: if you are right-handed, try drawing with your left hand; at dinner, take a spoon or fork in your left hand. You can also jump on your left leg, play football using your left leg to kick the ball instead of your usual right one.
  3. Hemisphere awareness exercise. The left hand touches the nose, and the right hand touches the left ear. Next, we release the nose and ear, clap our hands and change position: the left hand takes the right ear, and the right hand takes the nose.
  4. Drawing with the right hemisphere of the brain. Take a sheet of paper and place it in front of you. Take a pencil in both hands and with both hands try to draw simple symbols using the mirror effect: one image should be a mirror image of the other.
  5. Exercise for fingers. Alternately form a “ring” using your thumb and the rest. Do the exercise first on one hand, then on the other, and then on both at the same time.
  6. Another finger exercise. Clench both palms into fists. On your right hand, straighten your thumb, on your left, straighten your index finger. Change position - straighten your index finger on your right hand, and straighten your thumb on your left hand. Do this exercise at an increasing pace.
  7. Working with sound. Sit in a quiet place, turn on your favorite song, close your eyes and concentrate. Try to recognize every word in the song and accurately hear the melody.
  8. Development of imagination. Closing your eyes, imagine that there is a white sheet of paper in front of you. Imagine your name written on it in black ink. Now imagine how the ink smoothly changes its color, from black to blue, from blue to red, from red to any other color. You can use the hemisphere even more by imagining how the white background, along with the letters, also changes its color.
  9. Tactile sensations. Imagine that there is a certain dish in front of you. You eat it. Restore its taste and smell in your head, your association with this food. The same can be done with smells and with familiar people, remembering the timbre of a person’s voice, his laughter and gait.
  10. A B C D E F G H I K L M N O P R S T U V
  11. L P P V L V L P V L L P L L P V P L P V L V V P L

The first row is the alphabet that is well known to everyone from childhood. The second is the designation of hands. L - the left hand rises to the left, P - the right hand rises to the right, V - both hands up. When pronouncing the alphabet, perform the movement corresponding to the letter.

Consultation for parents “Developing the right hemisphere of the brain”

Dear parents !

As you know, our brain consists of two hemispheres : left and right , to each of which there are nerve pathways from the senses and from all organs that have sensitivity (for example, pain or tactile - tactile)

.
In this case, the right hemisphere mainly “serves” the left side of the body: it receives most of the information from the left eye, ear, left arm, leg, etc. and transmits commands accordingly to the left arm, leg, and the left hemisphere serves the right side .
The main difference between the left hemisphere and the right is that only the speech centers are located in it and the processing of all information entering the left hemisphere occurs with the help of verbal-sign systems. The left, as it were, splits the picture of the world into parts, into details and analyzes them, building cause-and-effect chains, classifying all objects, building diagrams, consistently going through everything that falls into the sphere of its perception or is retrieved from memory. This takes time; the left hemisphere acts relatively slowly. The right hemisphere , in which there are no centers of speech, grasps the picture of the world holistically, simultaneously including all concrete reality into consideration, not breaking it into parts, but synthesizing the whole image in the totality of its specific manifestations. It specializes in processing information that is expressed not in words, but in symbols and images. The right hemisphere acts quickly .

Thus, the left hemisphere can be called analytical, classification, abstract, algorithmic, sequential, inductive. We can say that the left hemisphere is characterized by rational-logical, symbolic thinking.

The right hemisphere corresponds to such characteristics as holistic, synthetic, concrete, heuristic (from the word “eureka!”), parallel (simultaneous, not sequential, deductive. It is also called emotional. It is characterized by visual-figurative, intuitive, creative thinking.

The left hemisphere is responsible for our reading and writing abilities. The right hemisphere gives us the ability to dream and fantasize. With the help of the right hemisphere we can create different stories. The right hemisphere is also responsible for abilities in music and the visual arts.

Usually one of the hemispheres in a person is dominant, which is reflected in the individual properties of the personality. For example, left-hemisphere people are more drawn to science. Right-hemisphere people are more eager to engage in art, or areas of activity that require individual imaginative solutions. The vast majority of great creators - composers, writers, poets, musicians, artists, etc. - are “ right-brain ” people.

All modern civilization is predominantly left-hemisphere . -brain dominant people . Unfortunately, most people ignore the innumerable possibilities hidden in the right half of the brain . There is still an underestimation of the importance of intuition and intuitive knowledge.

At first, the child is a pronounced right-hemisphere creature , but gradually the left hemisphere of the brain (primarily speech) pass to it.

.

In this regard, a few words about early childhood education, which is becoming increasingly fashionable. Is it always justified? Perhaps in this case such an important principle of education as timeliness is violated. Tatyana Vezel in her article “Left-handedness – is it good or bad?” (Motherhood magazine)

writes: “Recently, the fashion for early education has been gaining momentum.
Parents compete to demonstrate their children's ability to read, write and count. By vigorously encouraging early activity of the left hemisphere , they literally rape children, stimulating its activity, even if this activity is not present.
If the right hemisphere manages to accumulate the necessary baggage before the victory of the left, then everything is in order. If not, then the left-hemisphere tilt can “block” the right brain , leaving the psyche of this person forever impoverished. It will be more difficult for him to become himself, and therefore a unique, inimitable creation, which all people were originally intended to be.”

So the early development of children has not only advantages, but also disadvantages. But these “disadvantages” can be avoided if you strive to ensure that both hemispheres of the child’s brain work harmoniously. And for this we need precisely harmonious development , without a narrow specialized focus , which means it is necessary to deal not only with the development of the child’s intellect , but also with his emotional and physical development .

The benefits of harmonious functioning of the brain hemispheres are enormous . This is a kind of key that allows you to open the door behind which a person’s enormous potential is hidden.

There are also special exercises aimed at developing the right hemisphere . We will describe some of them here.

1. Visualization exercises.

When you have a free minute, sit your child next to you and invite them to dream up a little.

Let's close our eyes and imagine a white sheet of paper with your name written in big letters. Imagine the letters turning blue. And now - red, and now - green. They may be green, but the sheet of paper suddenly turned pink, and now yellow.

Now listen: someone is calling your name. Guess whose voice , but don’t tell anyone, sit quietly. Imagine that someone is chanting your name while music is playing around you. Let's listen!

Now we will touch your name. What does it feel like? Soft? Rough? Warm? Fluffy? Everyone's names are different.

Now we will taste your name. Is it sweet? Or maybe with sourness? Cold like ice cream or warm?

We learned that our name can have a color, a taste, a smell, and even feel something.

Now let's open our eyes. But the game is not over yet.

Ask your child to talk about his name and what he saw, heard and felt. Help him a little, remind him of the task and be sure to encourage him: “How interesting!”, “Wow!”, “I would never have thought that you had such a wonderful name!”

The story is over. We take pencils and ask them to draw a name. A child can draw whatever he wants, as long as the drawing reflects the image of the name. Let the child decorate the drawing and use as many colors as possible. But don't delay this activity. It is important to finish drawing at a strictly defined time. At this point, you decide for yourself how much time to spend on drawing - a slow baby needs about twenty minutes, and a “hurry child”

will draw everything in five minutes.

The drawing is ready. Let the child explain what these or those details mean and what he tried to draw. If it is difficult for him to do this, help: “What is this drawn? And this? Why did you draw this particular one?”

Now the game is over, you can rest.

You probably guessed what its essence is. We took the child through all the senses: sight, taste, smell, and forced him to engage in activities both imagination and speech. Thus, all areas of the brain had to take part in the game.

2. Now you can come up with other games based on the same principle. For example: “Name-flower” - we draw a flower that we could call by our name; “I’m an adult” - we try to imagine and draw ourselves as an adult (how I’ll dress, how I speak, what I do, how I walk, and so on)

; “Imaginary gift” - let the child give imaginary gifts to his friends, and tell you what they look, smell, and feel like.

You are stuck in a traffic jam, have a long train ride, are bored at home or in line at the doctor - play the suggested games. The kid is delighted and does not whine: “I’m bored, when will it finally happen. “, and the parent’s heart rejoices - the child is developing !

We offer you another visualization exercise called “Erasing stressful information from memory.”

Invite your child to sit, relax and close his eyes. Let him imagine in front of him a blank album sheet, pencils, and an eraser. Now invite your child to mentally draw on a piece of paper a negative situation that needs to be forgotten. Next, ask, again mentally, to take an eraser and begin to consistently erase the situation. You need to erase until the picture disappears from the sheet. After this, you should open your eyes and check: close your eyes and imagine the same sheet of paper - if the picture does not disappear, you need to mentally take the eraser again and erase the picture until it disappears completely. It is recommended to repeat the exercise periodically.

2. “Ear-nose.” With our left hand we take hold of the tip of the nose, and with our right hand we take the opposite ear, i.e. the left one. At the same time, release your ear and nose, clap your hands and change the position of your hands so that the right one is holding the tip of the nose, and the left one is holding the opposite ear, i.e. the right ear .

3. "Ring". We move our fingers one by one and very quickly, connecting the index, middle, ring, and little fingers into a ring with the thumb. First, you can do it with each hand separately, then with both hands simultaneously.

4. “Mirror drawing.” Place a blank sheet of paper on the table and take a pencil. Draw mirror-symmetrical designs and letters with both hands at the same time. When doing this exercise, you should feel your eyes and hands relax, because when both hemispheres , the efficiency of the entire brain .

By the way, when you do something with both hands at the same time, for example, play a musical instrument or even type text on the keyboard, both hemispheres . So this is also a kind of training. It is also useful to perform familiar actions not with your dominant hand, but with the other. That is, right-handers can live the life of left-handers, and left-handers, on the contrary, can become right-handed . For example, if you usually brush your teeth with the brush in your left hand, then periodically switch it to your right . If you write with your right hand , switch the pen to your left. It's not only useful, but also fun. And the results of such training will not take long to arrive.

5. And finally, another fun exercise for children who already know how to read well.

Looking at the picture, you need to say out loud as quickly as possible the colors in which the words are written.

Gymnastics for the brain - Olga Troitskaya
The program of exercise systems was developed back in the 70s. Scientists of that time conducted research with their students, each of whom performed gymnastics every day. Since then, the system has spread throughout the world with excellent results.

Olga Troitskaya is a successful psychologist. She places great importance on brain development, because thanks to a clear mind a person can be happy and successful.

EXERCISE No. 1 “CROSS RABBLS”:

Crawl on the floor like a child. You can just march when you feel lethargic and don’t want to do anything. The feeling of cheerfulness will come instantly

EXERCISE #2:

  • Stand straight, feet shoulder-width apart
  • Bend over, bringing your shoulder to your hip, not your elbow to your knee.
  • The head turns slightly as the action progresses
  • The mouth is not clamped, the lips are free. Only all muscles and the lower part of the face are tightened

EXERCISE No. 3 “BRAIN BUTTONS”:

  • Place two fingers under the collarbones (there are 2 holes in that place). The second hand is placed on the navel
  • Lightly massage the pits
  • Change hands
  • You also need to massage the dimples located between the 1st and 2nd ribs under the collarbones. This is a powerful neuro-lymphatic zone with large vessels coming from the heart

Synchronization of the brain and large vessels of the heart
EXERCISE No. 4 “THINKING CAP”:

  • Grasp the top of the ear and massage gently, as if stretching back and turning each point of the ear
  • Turn your head to the left as far as possible. Massage your ears, allowing your head, looking back, to go further and further. Do the massage from top to bottom. When your head turns to the limit, stop doing the exercise.
  • Turn your head to the right and repeat all the steps again as with turning your head to the left

EXERCISE No. 5 “OWL”:

  • Grab your left shoulder in the middle with your right hand
  • Turn your head slightly to the left
  • Start warming up - as you exhale, squeeze your fingers and say “UH.” Widen your eyes and look like an owl
  • Turn your head slightly from side to side
  • Then grab your right shoulder with your left hand and repeat the exercise

EXERCISE No. 6 “LAZY EIGHTS”:

  • Place your feet shoulder-width apart, feet parallel, knees straight and slightly bent. The body is relaxed
  • Bend one arm at the elbow and extend it forward. The thumb points up. Fix your gaze on him. The thumb is on the midline of the body.
  • Imagine a circle in front of you and draw a lying figure eight in it.
  • Switch hands and repeat the exercise
  • Then do it with both hands together - to the left and up

Eights in the air to synchronize the brain
EXERCISE No. 7 “DENISON HOOKS”:

Part 1 of the exercise:

  • Intertwine your legs
  • Stretch your arms forward with your palms facing outward
  • Place your palms together, interlocking your fingers and turning your arms toward your chest
  • Lift your tongue and press it to the roof of your mouth
  • Look up. You need to do the exercise for as long as you feel comfortable

Part 2 of the exercise:

  • Place your feet shoulder-width apart
  • Place your hands down and clasp them with a boat at the level of your lower abdomen
  • Lower your eyes, press your tongue to the roof of your mouth

Below is a video with Olga Troitskaya’s brain gymnastics. It only presents the exercises themselves.

For example: “1. What could happen if I am kind today?..”, etc.

Offset right

  1. Stand at a distance of a meter (approximately) near the wall (wall on the right).
  2. Bend to the right and touch your head to your waist (you can put something soft between the wall and your head to make it comfortable).
  3. Stand like this (leaning to the right) for several minutes (the further the distance from the wall, the greater the effect). Keep your body as level (straight) as possible.
  4. After this, sharply push off the wall and stand straight. You will immediately feel as if something is pulling you to the right and something in you will strive to the right. Concentrate on this feeling and also think about the space to your right.

Why I started training the left hemisphere

Before I tell you the 5 most effective methods for developing the left hemisphere, I will describe how I myself came to the conclusion that I need to develop it. I don’t know exactly why, but since childhood, my right hemisphere has been more developed. I perceived all the information almost intuitively and quickly grasped the essence. However, there were some problems with this. It was difficult to justify logically why I think this way and how I came to this. And it was almost impossible to trace the cause-and-effect relationship. This caused a lot of inconvenience while studying at school and university. It was difficult to explain to the teachers why I gave such an answer. I often had to prove that I wasn't cheating.

I also had some problems in the exact sciences. I could sit for a long time on any, not the most complex mathematical problem, and still to no avail. At that moment, I accepted that I was like this and simply used everything that the more developed right hemisphere gave me. Like any young person, I had many plans for my life, but I also had problems setting specific goals to achieve my goals.

I wanted to change the situation at the moment when I became interested in learning foreign languages. I could understand on a purely intuitive level what they were saying to me, but I could not answer anything. There were serious problems with pronunciation, reading and grammar.

The problem was that I didn’t realize what exactly was going on and didn’t know that my left hemisphere was much less developed than my right. Then I accidentally came across an article on a social network and began to study this topic in more detail. I realized what the problem was and was determined to fix it. Even on my busiest days, I devoted at least an hour a day strictly to developing the left hemisphere. And after just a few months I began to notice significant progress.

Now I can write and speak English more or less fluently, and I started learning German. Mathematical problems are much easier for me. And most importantly, I finally understood what steps I need to take to achieve my goals. I tested all the methods described below on how to develop the left hemisphere of the brain on myself. Even if I managed to achieve some progress, then I am sure it will not be difficult for you to improve the functioning of your left hemisphere. The main thing is regularity and dedicating enough time to it.

More about the right hemisphere

The hemispheres of our brain work in harmony. The left is responsible for the brain’s acceptance of so-called “speech” information and its processing. Thanks to the work of the left hemisphere, a person has the ability to write and read, memorize information, logic, analysis, and formulate conclusions.

The right hemisphere is responsible for the brain's reception of visual information. Thanks to him, people fantasize, dream, write poems, songs, draw pictures and create sculptures. Just like the left, the right hemisphere processes information, but can look at a problem from different angles, suggesting a creative approach to a solution. All functions of the right hemisphere:

  • responsible for emotions;
  • responsible for fantasies and imagination;
  • is responsible for the development of a person’s abilities and inclinations towards art;
  • controls the movements of the left half of the body;
  • instills musical abilities, distinguishes tempo, melodies;
  • is responsible for a person’s orientation in space and terrain;
  • understands expression and humor;
  • perceives someone else's voice, highlighting its timbre and intonation;
  • remembers images;
  • is responsible for deduction (deriving the truth by collecting one or more prerequisite statements);
  • responsible for intuition (the ability to obtain correct information without analysis);

How I realized that it is important to develop both hemispheres

After graduating from university, I got a job. Every day I did what I had been taught during my year of study. I knew exactly my daily routine. The problem was that I stopped studying and, as a result, lost my ambitions. I noticed that life simply pulled me into a routine, all the days were the same and I was unable to achieve any global goals. Then I thought about it and began to study the problem.

It was during that period of my life that I came across the 5 exercises that I will describe below. After a few months, I began to notice the first results. I became more creative and focused at the same time. As a result, I not only received a promotion, but also launched my own small business project, which paid off and is already bringing me money. And all that was needed for this was not to stop developing and to work on both hemispheres.

What is necessary for the development of the right hemisphere

A developed right hemisphere helps to perceive the surrounding reality as holistically as possible. Thanks to this perception, you will be able to perform several actions at the same time without getting lost in the details. Also, the development of the right hemisphere of the brain will provide the necessary level of enthusiasm and creativity, and will help to perceive and understand many things on an intuitive level.

Like any other organ, the brain needs training to develop. Exercises that develop the right hemisphere are those that stimulate the awakening of a person’s creativity. Absolutely any creative work can become such an exercise. Work that does not consist in a series of mechanical actions, but in composing, creating something.

  1. The first exercise is visualization

    Psychologists have long been talking about the practical benefits of visualization. This procedure helps you set goals, believe in their implementation and achieve them. What is visualization? This is the process of imagining the desired images, saturating them with colors in your imagination. Visualization is a very interesting and quite entertaining thing.

    So let's get down to business. Relax, get rid of external irritants and plunge into an atmosphere of calm. You need to close your eyes and imagine a blank sheet or empty space in front of you. Using the power of your imagination, color the background you see in front of you, change its color and shade. Now the fun part - try to “draw” something against this background. It can be any abstract drawing, made with absolutely any colors. For simplicity, you can display your own name on your sheet.

    As you can see, this procedure is something like real drawing. Only here there is more freedom and creativity. After all, the artist is not limited by the area of the canvas or the choice of material. This exercise incredibly “accelerates” your creative imagination. And the brighter and clearer the drawings you present, the faster your abilities will develop. And, accordingly, the right hemisphere of your own brain.

  2. Second exercise – drawing

    So to speak, let's return to the material. How to develop the right hemisphere of the brain? Try to draw something with your hands. It’s better to do this regularly, because the drawing process is not only useful for improving imagination and creative skills, it is also a very entertaining activity. It’s easy to while away the evening and relax after a tiring day at work.

    However, now we will not talk about the usual drawing at all. Take a piece of paper and a couple of tools at the same time - it could be two pencils or two brushes, whatever. An instrument in each hand. We begin to slowly draw out one figure with each hand. Gradually it is worth doing this at the same time, as if mirroring with your left hand the movements of your right hand. This procedure, especially if performed regularly, will perfectly develop both the right and left hemispheres. Drawing will improve your coordination and concentration skills.

  3. Exercise number three - musical instruments

    Every creative person has a developed right hemisphere. Especially musicians. Playing any instrument requires coordination of both hands and sometimes feet. And if a musician actively composes his own compositions, the positive effect on the brain doubles.

    Playing a musical instrument is an excellent exercise that develops the right hemisphere. Let's take the guitar as an example. If you have already held it in your hands, it will be a little easier. Learn to play simple basic chords and easy strumming if you don't play the instrument. This will give you the necessary coordination skills and actively begin to “turn on” the right half of the brain. If you are familiar with the guitar, don’t leave it “for later” and regularly play at least simple melodies on the instrument, each time trying to learn something new.

Effective development exercises

Right-handed people, whose left hemisphere is best developed, should try to use their left hand more often in everyday life. For example, if you are used to performing all actions (eating food, drawing, working on a computer, using the phone, etc.) with your right hand, then start doing everything with your left.

Even if such exercises are quite difficult at first, over time you will learn them. Such an experiment will help you develop creative thinking and discover new talents in yourself.

The “Magic of Achievement” marathon will help you become more successful, develop new skills, and improve your financial situation.

Improve your life!

In our article you will find the most effective techniques to use the necessary part of the brain and develop new talents.

Audio exercises

You can develop the desired skills by working with sound. To do this, for better concentration, you need to choose a quiet place. Close your eyes and imagine as if someone is calling you. Determine as accurately as possible which of your friends or loved ones the voice belongs to.

Listen carefully to what the person is trying to tell you. Now remember your favorite song. Try to accurately hear the melody and words of the song. Such audio exercises will help you develop your right hemisphere and improve its functioning.

Visual images

You can influence brain function with powerful visualization. In order to develop creative thinking, you need to close your eyes and focus on the image. Imagine that there is a white sheet of paper in front of you.

Try to mentally write your name on the paper. Then imagine the letters changing color from green to blue and later to red. It will be much more effective to improve the functioning of your brain (right hemisphere) if you mentally change the background of the sheet and clearly imagine such a change.

Tactile senses

Another effective way to develop the right hemisphere is to use tactile sensations. You can imagine absolutely any images during the exercise.

For example, try to feel that you are eating a certain dish, what it tastes like, what you associate with it. To develop creative skills, the same can be done with smell or in any way.

Mirror drawing

It is possible to develop both hemispheres equally with this exercise. Take a piece of paper and two pencils or pens. Draw the same shapes with both hands at the same time.

These can be circles, squares, hearts, etc. This exercise helps to effectively develop creative thinking and normalize the functioning of both lobes of the brain.

Closer to art

The simplest and most effective way to develop the right hemisphere is to start devoting more time to creativity. Try to visit a gallery, museum or theater more often. Develop the habit of listening to beautiful music and reading fiction.

Find like-minded people and attend cultural events together. By discussing the works of great personalities, it will be easier for you to get closer to their worldview. In this way, you can develop new skills and improve the functioning of your right hemisphere.

Effective exercises

Try to develop your right brain by doing different exercises every day. The most effective ways to improve the functioning of the right lobe of the brain are:

  • Working with fingers. Such gymnastics will help develop creative thinking. Try clenching both palms into fists at the same time. After this, straighten the thumb on your right hand and the index finger on your left. Then straighten the index finger on your right hand and the thumb on your left hand. Repeat this exercise several times, speeding up the pace. Alternate and throw other fingers;
  • Infinity sign. This exercise also helps to effectively develop the right hemisphere and improve creative skills. To do this, you need to press your left ear to your shoulder and extend your left arm forward. Then all attention should be concentrated on the index finger. Draw a figure eight with your hand, starting from the center - up and from the center - to the left. Perform the exercise with your left hand 8 times, and then do the same for your right hand;
  • Parallelism in motion. Place a drawing in front of you (at eye level) that shows two parallel lines. As you step, touch your left knee with your left hand, and then touch your right knee with your right hand. All this time, look at the drawing. There are 12 steps you need to take during this creative thinking exercise.

Remember that developing the right hemisphere is actually not that difficult. Get ready to do the exercises regularly to achieve results. Invite your friends on social networks to read our article.

This kind of information will help them develop their right brain and succeed in life. We say goodbye to you, dear readers!

An interesting fact is that the right lobe of the brain is responsible for the functioning of the left side of the body. It influences human emotions, helps to think figuratively, and is also responsible for our intuition.

Most often, from birth, people have a better developed right hemisphere, however, over time, the left lobe of the brain takes the leading position. It is the left hemisphere that is responsible for logical and step-by-step thinking.

In real life, the right hemisphere influences such features of human behavior as:

  • the ability to dream and fantasize
  • the ability to perceive individual sounds as a whole melody
  • sexual fantasies and desires
  • coordination of the left side of the body
  • high-quality and holistic perception of visual pictures and actions
  • creative skills
  • ability to navigate in space

Left and right hemisphere. Who dominates you?

The basic knowledge we need is to understand that the brain has two hemispheres: left and right. It turns out that 80% of people are “left-hemisphere” and the reason for this is, again, our education, which is more aimed at developing the left hemisphere than the right. And when adulthood begins, a person has problems realizing his creative potential. He just wasn’t taught to think creatively!

It should also be mentioned that women have a better developed right hemisphere, while men have a better developed left hemisphere. A pronounced right-hemisphere woman is simply a disaster that looks like a storm. She obeys her emotions and her mood can change in a second from boundless joy to the deepest depression. And in order to somehow organize this chaos, she needs to learn to turn on the left hemisphere. For men it's the other way around. Left-brain dominance makes them logical, inflexible and insensitive. Therefore, it is necessary to develop the right hemisphere to add vivid emotions to your life.

Workouts for children

The following exercises are performed by a group of children; The classes are suitable for kindergarten.

Legs - arms

Goal: support the development of synchronization of the cerebral hemispheres, motor skills, and rhythmic senses.

Children stand in a circle. Instructions: which leg starts the exercise, a signal is sent there. The teacher transmits the signal: stomps his left foot, then his right. The signal follows in a circle to the left, each child starts with the left foot, then stomps with the right.

Dance

Goal: support the development of synchronization of the cerebral hemispheres.

Children stand in a circle. Take 4 steps forward. At the first step, clap your palms. In the same way, when returning to the starting position - 4 steps back, on the 1st step - clap the palm.

Variations:

  • children repeat the basic pattern: 4 steps forward and back, clapping on every 2nd step;
  • children repeat the basic pattern: 4 steps forward and back, clapping on every 3rd step;
  • children repeat the basic pattern: 4 steps forward and back, clapping on every 4th step.

Yawn

Normal yawning can do more for the brain than it seems. It maintains the balance of many energy systems in the body, relaxes the cranial area, relaxes breathing, and improves perception.

Symmetrical exercises

When moving, touch the knee of your left leg with your left hand, and touch your right leg with your right hand. Increase the number of times with each workout. It is important to follow the rhythm, and you need to look at the drawing with 2 parallel lines, which should be placed at eye level.

For the next exercise, you need to take a comfortable position, standing or sitting. At the same time, draw a picture with your hands, either on paper or in the air, always with a mirror image of your hand.

How can you develop the abilities of the hemispheres?

There are several simple ways to develop the hemispheres. The simplest of them is to increase the amount of work on which the hemisphere is oriented. For example, to develop logic, you need to solve mathematical problems, solve crosswords, and to develop imagination, visit an art gallery, etc.

The next way is to maximally use the side of the body controlled by the hemisphere - to develop the right hemisphere, you need to work with the left part of the body, and to work out the left hemisphere, you need to work with the right. For example, you can draw, jump on one leg, juggle with one hand.

An exercise to develop awareness of the right and left hemispheres of the brain will help develop the hemispheres.

1. Preparation for the exercise

Sit up straight, close your eyes. Breathing should be calm and uniform.

Visualize your brain as consisting of two hemispheres and divided into two halves by the corpus callosum. (See pic above) Focus on your brain.

We try (in our imagination) to establish a connection with our brain, alternately looking with our left eye at the left hemisphere of the brain, and with our right eye at the right. Then, with both eyes, we look inward, at the middle of the brain with the corpus callosum.

2 Performing the exercise

We inhale slowly, fill with air and hold our breath for a short time. During exhalation, we direct the stream of our consciousness, like a searchlight, to the left hemisphere and “look” at this part of the brain. Then we inhale again, hold our breath and, as we exhale, direct the spotlight to the right hemisphere of the brain.

We imagine: on the left – clear logical thinking; on the right – dream, intuition, inspiration.

Left: inhalation, pause, exhalation associated with the projection of the number. Right: inhalation, pause, exhalation associated with the projection of the letter. Those. left: number “1” number “2” number “3”, etc. Right: letter “A” letter “B” letter “C” etc.

We continue this combination of numbers and letters as long as it evokes pleasant sensations. Letters and numbers can be swapped, or replaced with something else - for example, summer - winter, white - black.

Continuation of practice (2012)

In 2007, I gave you this practice, which practitioners use with great benefit. Today I want to continue it, because... she is really very helpful. ... Sergey Veretennikov is the author of this material - copying is not permitted...

First of all, it must be said that it has been scientifically proven that when a person, for one reason or another (for example, during a stroke in the left hemisphere of the brain), the work of the left hemisphere is switched off and the right hemisphere begins to take on the leading role, then the person begins to feel and experience those states that, for example, in esotericism and Yoga are called nirvana, samadhi - merging with something Higher, boundless. — Copying is prohibited by the AUTHOR — © Sergey Veretennikov — This is a complete exit from the world of logic and egocentrism, beyond the small “I”, beyond the line of limitation. — © Your Yoga — COPYING IS PROHIBITED © TY — Your Yoga —

It is also surprising that such a change of roles (i.e. turning off the left hemisphere and turning on the right) is one of the key ones in any spiritual, esoteric, religious, magical culminating states. ... If we consider some shamanic practices, then the use of psychotropic drugs, so-called entheogens, leads to the transfer of consciousness to other, more subtle dimensions, and this is due to that these drugs turn off the left hemisphere and consciousness moves to the right, where these amazing experiences occur. — Copying of this material is PROHIBITED — www.youryoga.org/copyright.htm — © Your Yoga — Everything is the same, for example, in any religious practices, for example, in many hours of prayer — a person brings himself to a state where consciousness shifts to the right hemisphere and he begins feel ecstasy, awe,... The same is true in Yoga - various mantras, exercises, etc. - all this gradually leads to the awakening of the right-sided consciousness, and as a result of this - an altered state of consciousness, where a person enters other areas of world perception, his consciousness is not limited by anything and he sees a different Reality. +++ © www.youryoga.org/copyright.htm - All rights reserved - any copying is strictly prohibited +++ I will not list all spiritual disciplines, teachings, religions - You just have to understand that there are many names, but the essence is the same - in one way or another, shift consciousness to the right hemisphere, turn off the left hemisphere of the brain and turn on the right. — © Your Yoga youryoga.org/copyright.htm — In shamanic practices this is done somewhat extreme, in yogic and religious practices — — © Your Yoga youryoga.org/copyright.htm — gradually and in a controlled manner. How to find out which hemisphere is more active in you

Before developing the right hemisphere of the brain, people need to know which side is more active. Prepared test tests will help you determine this.

Test No. 1

You need to look carefully at the drawing and determine what is on it.

If you saw the image of a girl in the picture, then the right lobe of your brain is more developed; if you managed to see an old woman, then the opposite side is more active.

Test No. 2

The next test is to find a man's head among the coffee beans. The search time should not exceed 3 minutes.

Now look at the results, if you found what you were looking for:

  • in less than 3 seconds, then the right hemisphere is well developed;
  • in 60 seconds, development is normal;
  • from 1 to 3 minutes, not well developed, it is recommended to eat more meat.

If the search took more than 3 minutes, the functioning of the right side of the brain is poor, it is advisable to read the information on how to develop the right hemisphere of the brain in adults.

To determine the active side of the brain, in addition to test tasks, you can focus on some behavioral traits characteristic of left-handers, right-handers and ambidextrous people.

Character of right-handed people

Such people listen to other people's opinions and try to live by generally accepted rules. Right-handers can be characterized as follows:

  • predictable;
  • sequential;
  • reliable;
  • principled.

They try not to enter into conflict, show little emotion, have an analytical mind and can achieve heights in the exact sciences.

Left-handed character

Lefties are emotional and impulsive individuals; by nature they are rarely conservative; they always want change. Lefties are individualists, they are not satisfied with the usual foundations, they live by their own rules, and can be stubborn and withdrawn. It is easier for left-handed people to achieve success in creative activities.

The character of ambidextrous people

People with both sides of the brain working simultaneously are flexible and versatile. They are characterized by responsiveness and emotionality, and have well-developed intuition. Ambidextrous people have the ability to see a little more than ordinary people, they often become pioneers of something and can achieve success in almost any field.

How to develop your brain so that it works at 100

The starting point for brain development is usually growing dissatisfaction with one's success in school, work or business. Most people begin to think about how to develop their intellectual and creative abilities when they encounter real difficulties in one of the areas of life.

A person lives most of his life and only in adulthood realizes the importance of self-development. For this reason, among mature people there is a higher percentage of happy, successful and rich people than among young people, even though young people have more energy and enthusiasm

For some reason, we are taught to pay more attention to the external, forgetting about the internal. Although the external is just a mirror reflecting the internal. And this also applies to the brain. You just know you have it from your high school biology course. But you don’t realize that it needs to be developed. But this is our main computer with 86 billion neurons! According to research, the average person uses only 3-5% of their brain potential! Imagine if your computer or laptop worked with such power. I think you would break it on the third day or go straight to the nearest store to “upgrade”.

Therefore, unfortunately, it must be said that most abilities for people remain beyond the realm of possibility, something from the realm of fantasy. And the reason for all this is simple: the brain works as it has to.

I would immediately recommend watching a very fascinating film on this topic called “Areas of Darkness.” The main character Eddie, a New York writer, wanting to overcome a bad streak in life, begins to take a secret drug called NZT. This creative drug allows him to develop his brain to incredible power. In a short period of time, his whole life changes. He writes a book, makes a lot of money and becomes successful. But he soon begins to suffer from the side effects of the drug.

By the way, many people do this. They resort to drugs because they are unable to realize their creative potential. I also write a lot and there are real stagnations when you can’t even string two lines together. But the thought never occurred to me to start using drugs for this purpose. I believe this is the path of weak people who have not bothered to simply take and understand how our brain actually works and what is necessary for intellectual and creative development. I already have my own experience, thanks to which I have developed my safe NZT and swallow it every day! We will talk about it, but a little later.

First, let's be clear that brain development is no easy task! It is necessary to do the following chain of actions:

1. Determine the dominant hemisphere

2. Develop the lagging hemisphere

3. Synchronize and increase the speed of switching work between them

You need to develop your brain harmoniously!

Neuroplasticity of learning: flashes in the cerebellum

Neuroplasticity of learning, unlike structural learning, occurs in bursts. It is associated with procedural memory, which is responsible for balance and motor skills. When we get on a bicycle after a long break or learn to swim crawl, the so-called climbing and mossy fibers are restored or appear for the first time in our cerebellum: the first - between large Purkinje cells in one layer of tissue, the second - between granular cells in another. Many cells change together, “in unison,” at the same moment, so that we, without specifically remembering anything, are able to move a scooter or stay afloat.

Norman Doidge, "The Brain That Changes Itself: Stories of Personal Triumph from the Frontiers of Brain Science"

Motor neuroplasticity is closely related to the phenomenon of long-term potentiation - an increase in synaptic transmission between neurons, which allows the pathway to be preserved for a long time. Scientists now believe that long-term potentiation underlies the cellular mechanisms of learning and memory. It was this that, throughout the entire process of evolution of various species, ensured their ability to adapt to changes in the environment: not falling from a branch in a dream, digging frozen soil, noticing the shadows of birds of prey on a sunny day.

It is obvious, however, that the two types of neuroplasticity do not describe all the changes that occur in nerve cells and between them throughout life. The picture of the brain appears to be as complex as the picture of the genetic code: the more we learn about it, the more we realize how little we actually know. Plasticity allows the brain to adapt and develop, change its structure, improve its functions at any age, and cope with the effects of illness and injury. This is the result of the simultaneous joint work of a variety of mechanisms, the laws of which we have yet to study.

Gymnastics for brain vessels Nishi

Gymnastics for cerebral vessels - Nishi
Japanese healer Katsuzo Nishi created a system of exercises for healing the body. This is done through training the capillaries.

Gymnastics for cerebral vessels Nishi:

  • The simplest exercise to improve the condition of capillaries and blood circulation is called “Vibration”. In the morning, without getting out of bed, lift your legs and arms up and shake them for 2 minutes. This kind of massage of the capillaries also helps to redistribute lymphatic fluid, which allows you to cleanse the body of toxins
  • Exercise "Goldfish". Lying on a flat surface, place your hands under your neck, at the level of the fourth cervical vertebra. Pull your toes towards you. Tense yourself very hard and make vibrating movements with your whole body, like a fish.

Such exercises help reduce the tone of the nervous system and increase vascular tone. Active blood circulation begins throughout the body, blood vessels actively work and strengthen.

Here are more effective exercises for strengthening blood vessels and improving brain function:
