Phenazepam analogue: how to replace a tranquilizer

The dynamics of time require endurance

Our dynamic and turbulent times are as interesting as they are irritating to the nervous system. Constant overexertion, stressful situations, worries with or without cause often lead to quite serious consequences. They are the direct causes of a person’s unhealthy psychological background. As a result, neurotic and psychosomatic conditions develop. Many people simply don't attach much importance to this. And loss of sleep, high irritability, loss of appetite, anxiety and fear, as well as depressed mood and apathy are mistaken for ordinary fatigue. But all of the above are serious warning signs, and not responding to them is a huge misconception.

A timely visit to a specialist will protect you from major health-related troubles. Modern medicine has a huge selection of remedies that can eliminate unpleasant symptoms and return lost joyful emotions to a person. Such medications are tranquilizers. They calm and relieve tension. The attending physician will select exactly the medication that is suitable for each individual patient, depending on his condition. Perhaps the most frequently used drug of the latest generation from a wide range of tranquilizers is Tranquesipam.

"Tranquesipan" - a second generation tranquilizer

This medication is an analogue of the well-known “Fenozipam”, a first-generation tranquilizer. Second-generation benzodiazepine tranquilizers relieve emotional stress, eliminate anxiety and fear, and do not suppress memory, attention and other cognitive functions of the body. The first generation drugs did not have such properties. Of course, second-generation tranquilizers also have their drawbacks. The main one is very fast addiction. Therefore, it is not recommended to use them longer than prescribed by the attending physician. The next serious point when treating with such drugs is that these drugs have a rather complex effect on the human body, and they cannot be taken without the direct prescription of a doctor and his monitoring of the patient.

Release forms

Tranquesipam is available in two forms. Namely: in tablets and solution. The tranquilizer contains the main substance bromodihydrochlorophenylbenzodiazepine in the amount of 0.5 and 1 mg per tablet. They are packaged in dark glass jars of 50 pieces. There is also another package, which consists of a cardboard box with five blisters of 10 tablets each. The liquid preparation is ampoules in pallets or packages of 5 or 10 ampoules. The ampoule contains 1 mg of bromodihydrochlorophenylbenzodiazepine per 1 ml of solution. It is administered intramuscularly or intravenously.

Effect of the drug

Tranquesipam enhances the inhibitory effect of gamma-aminobutyric acid on the transmission of nerve impulses. This drug has sedative, antiphobic, hypnotic and anticonvulsant properties. It is also an excellent centrally acting muscle relaxant, due to the fact that it reduces the hypertonicity of skeletal muscles. By reducing emotional stress, the drug effectively fights various phobias. And, thanks to its sedative effect, it successfully eliminates feelings of fear, anxiety and anxiety. By relaxing, the process of falling asleep and staying asleep improves. The patient also loses disturbing dreams. It can also be used as an anticonvulsant. But it only suppresses the convulsive impulse without removing the source of excitation itself. Therefore, Tranquesipam is prescribed in complex therapy as an additional agent in the treatment of seizures of various etiologies. This drug is well absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract when taken. The maximum concentration is reached after 1-2 hours. It is excreted by the kidneys after 6-18 hours.

Phenazepam and Fenzitate - difference and common features

It is an anxiolytic agent that has a sedative, hypnotic, anticonvulsant, and muscle relaxant effect.
Allows you to reduce emotional stress, eliminates nervousness, feelings of fear and panic.

It is used in psychiatry both as a monotherapy and in complex therapy of mental disorders.

Has INN (International Nonproprietary Name) Bromodihydrochlorophenylbenzodiazepine.

It belongs to group B medications – potent drugs that cannot be purchased without a doctor’s prescription.

Both drugs belong to the group of tranquilizers, or anxiolytics, and are widely used in neurology. These are tablets 0.5 mg, 1 mg, 2.5 mg. The active ingredient is bromodihydrochlorophenylbenzodiazepine (a group of benzodiazepines). In appearance, the substance is a white powder, or has a creamy tint, crystalline, soluble in water.

There is no difference in the basic composition between Phenzitate and Phenazepam; they are recognized as complete structural analogues.

The first is produced by , the second by Valenta Pharm. The cost of the tablets is practically the same - for 50 tablets of 0.5 mg you need to pay 95-105 rubles. Only in the set of auxiliary components there are differences, which is important for people with allergies to these substances. For Phenazepam it is lactose, starch, polyvidone, talc, calcium stearate, for Fenzitate it is calcium stearate, gelatin, lactose, starch.

Mode of application

The drug in tablets is taken in the usual way, i.e. orally in the following dosages:

- sleep disturbances - 0.25-0.5 mg half an hour before bedtime;

- for neurotic, psychopathic and similar conditions - 0.5-1 mg 2-3 times a day (after 4 days you can increase the dose to 4-6 mg per day if the drug is well tolerated);

- for fear, anxiety - 3 mg per day, then the dose is increased until the result is obtained;

— for alcohol withdrawal – 2-5 mg per day;

Features and purposes of application

The drug is prescribed in the following cases:

  • psychopathic;
  • psychopathic;
  • neurotic;
  • neurosis-like state.

As a rule, in such situations there is an emphasized state of anxiety, fear, and often increased irritability and instability (emotional lability).

Phenazepam has confirmed its effectiveness in eliminating problems such as obsessive neuroses, a variety of human fears (phobias), and hypochondriacal syndromes. What is important is that it demonstrates results where other tranquilizers are unable to overcome resistant syndromes.

If we take into account the anti-anxiety and calming (sedative) effect of the drug, it turns out that it is not inferior to a number of neuroleptics, that is, those drugs whose action is aimed at an inhibitory effect.

Phenazepam is often prescribed to patients to eliminate alcohol withdrawal, a phenomenon that occurs after a sudden refusal to take alcoholic substances. It is also a sleeping pill. In terms of its hypnotic properties, it approaches the level of Eunoctine.

Side effects

These include dizziness, sometimes headache, fatigue, drowsiness, dysarthria, in some cases memory loss, and impaired coordination of movements. Manifestations of muscle reactions in the form of tremor or muscle spasm are possible. Often there is also an excited state, euphoria, or, conversely, depression and depression. All these symptoms usually appear when the drug is abruptly discontinued or its dosage is reduced. If you are sensitive to the drug, allergic reactions, such as itching or rash, are possible. Patients also sometimes complain of dry mouth, nausea, diarrhea or constipation, vomiting and heartburn.

And again about the shortcomings

The effect of the drug on the body is very ambiguous; it has a considerable list of both contraindications and side effects.

In addition to traditional hypersensitivity, pregnancy, breastfeeding, adolescence and childhood, there are also specific contraindications.

Medicines should not be used in a state of shock or coma, severe depression (when suicidal tendencies occur), angle-closure glaucoma, myasthenia gravis, severe chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and severe alcohol or sleeping pill poisoning.

Among the side effects, first let’s say a few words about the effect on the central and peripheral nervous system. At the beginning of drug therapy, drowsiness is observed, especially in elderly people. In addition, during the same period, ataxia, a feeling of fatigue, dizziness, confusion, gait instability, slowed mental and motor reactions, disorientation, and decreased ability to concentrate develop.

Very rarely there are reactions that contradict the effect that the drug should have. We are talking about the development of fear, anxiety, muscle spasms after using the medicine.

Analogs

The drug "Tranquesipam" has a number of analogues. Complete analogues are identical in terms of the active substance, but may differ in price (the cost of Tranquesipam ranges from 50-120 rubles), auxiliary components, pharmacological form and dosage.

Phenazepam. Its effect on the patient’s body is identical - a psychotropic drug that is practically no different from Tranquesipam. Available in a cardboard box of 50 pcs. with a dosage of 500-1000 mg. The price ranges from 50-200 rubles.

Phenorelaxan. This is an analogue with limited use and more frequent occurrence of adverse reactions. Available in a dosage of 1000 mg, 50 pcs. Price from 60 to 85 rubles per package.

Elzepam. A Russian-made drug with a similar principle of action, but is available in a dose of 1000 mg. The price ranges from 60-100 rubles.

Comparison of addiction between Phenazepam and Tranquesipam

Like safety, addiction also involves many factors that must be considered when evaluating a drug.

So, the totality of the values of such parameters as “syndrome o” for Phenazepam is less than the similar values for Tranquesipam. Withdrawal syndrome is a pathological condition that occurs after the cessation of intake of addictive or dependent substances into the body. And resistance is understood as initial immunity to a drug; in this it differs from addiction, when immunity to a drug develops over a certain period of time. The presence of resistance can only be stated if an attempt has been made to increase the dose of the drug to the maximum possible.

Reviews

Reviews about the drug are mostly positive. Both doctors and patients note the high effectiveness, minimal negative reactions and relatively affordable price of the drug. Many note that tension and discomfort are relieved quite quickly. Some patients even noted that the drug helped them in the fight against alcoholism. The tranquilizer copes well with insomnia, which often torments patients. They note that already at first when taking this medicine, they stop suffering when falling asleep.
